NYC, day 4, good times...

The girls from Guam came back, very cute and very nice. I went to a great new bookstore for me, Dashwood Books, super epic. Bought books. Hung out at the book fair with BARR and David Horvitz. Attended a great art exhibition featuring about 10 crazy good artworks by Chris Johanson. Saw Marshall Schuster who married Justin Regan, and saw Cheryl Dunn and her man-toy Micheal too! Deanna and I had a superb brunch at Blossom. Dinner at Caravan of Dreams. Exactly. I'm over-amping.

New York City, Information overload.

Saw a Raymond Pettibon show and was blown away by it. Met Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth, and JD from Le Tigre... Ate great food. Met two sweet girls from Guam!!!!! (Hi Girls from Guam!!)

I forgot my cable...

I am in New York for a few days attending the NY Art Book Fair, where ANP Quarterly, the magazine I work for will have a table.

A bunch of Toy Riders came out for a shred this weekend. It was good time.

Weird Scene in my house.

Geoff Rowley stopped by for a visit and we were talking in my dining room, then Deanna came out and stood next to a painted portrait of her that Chris Senn made about 10 years ago, and she had a plain shirt and the same hair as the painting, and it was freaking me out a bit. Then I went to Native Foods to eat and there was a huge window display of the RVCA team, and I was wearing the exact same shirt by chance, and I was super embarrassed.

I love Jimmy from RVCA. And Leo loves him too. But not in a homosexual way, just a nice friendly and warm way that is borderline.

Catalina with the Burnetts

Thrasher's own Mike Burnett and his lovely wife Katherine came with us for a day of adventure! We took a leisurely boat ride out to bird rock and ended up having a picnic on the boat where we watched 5 or 6 Bald Eagles hunting for fish. They were very efficient, just plucking fish from the surface every time they went out. We then took a stroll to the stables where we watches horses for a while. Checked the want ads, and cruised up and down Crescent ave... We were 4 of 3348 for the day.

Another day spent in Catalina Island...

This is the pier, where we rent our boat from Joe's Rent-a-Boat. We take it out of the harbor and get lost.

We find deserted beaches to have a picnic on. This one, Willow Cove, had a table and a shade tree. Nobody was around.

Then we went further north in search of Leopard Shark. We found them in a few places, but mostly at Moonstone Beach.

There were a bunch of them. I saw probably 10-15 shark of varying size and coloration. We stood still in 3 feet of water and let them come to us. The water is sandy and murky, so you have to be patient. Some of them would get caught behind us when a wave would surge outward, and have to bolt quickly away from us. They would shoot like lightning when they accidentally got within inches of us then realized we were there.

We were only 2 of 3521 people visiting the island today.

Deanna and I love Catalina. We didn't see any Bison, or Feral Goat on this trip.
Although rumor has it they machine gunned the Feral Goat from a helicopter because they ruin the natural balance of the flora and fauna of the island. We also did not see any Flying Fish today, But did see 2 Bald Eagles, and a huge male Sea Lion.
