Our kitty
Ptah turned 17 years old~! You may remember him from such skateboard videos as New Deal's
1281, and my Profile in 411 #30 perhaps? He's crusty, but still the best cat
ever!!!!

Just for the hell of it. I found some website that generates a map for you.

If it was red only where I have actually been, then there would be a lot less red, and much more like red dots and squiggly lines. I've never been to Siberia or the Yukon territories!

This is Deanna and me at our house after a long day down in San Diego with my Grandparents and Mother. My Grandpa has been known to fall
asleep during the opening of presents, as well as supporting
this guy.
sheesh! My sweet potato
exploded inside my grandmas toaster oven. I still ate it.
Deanna looked Marvelous all day.

Deanna and I went to the eye of the commercial Christmas storm (
Disneyland) with my young niece Sophia and her parents Joe and HR, and her parents. It was a great
day - my beard is getting gray.

We went to her school, she is in Kindergarten, to hear her sing Christmas songs with her class in front of an auditorium full of parents.
These are the issues they are dealing with. And their little
chairs are so
cute!

It was my first time there. Very cool, December seems like a great time to go. Barely anyone there, no crazy
mosquitoes.

There were however plenty of
alligators! Human deaths caused by alligators have increased. While there were only nine fatal attacks in the U.S.A. between 1970 and 2000,
eleven people were killed by alligators in the five years between 2001 and 2006 alone. We watched one thrash about while catching a fish--
a
Florida Gar to be exact.

We saw this bird called an
Anhinga. It is similar to a bird we have off the California coast called a
cormorant. It was cool watching them hunt for fish underwater, popping thier heads up like a snake.

Down at the
tip of Florida the sun and the clouds were doing crazy things together.

We shot photos, the place was deserted and romantic.

Deanna was my trail buddy. Making sure no rouge gator was sneaking up for a chomp.

These
Black Vultures were relaxing after a long day of gliding around looking for
carrion.

I found this sign very sad. It's true. They key line is 'What America once
was.'

The only place we shot photos of food was this place Sublime in Fort Lauderdale. We had to drive a half hour north from Miami Beach to eat here every other night.

This polenta was free every night...

Caesar Salad: romaine hearts, artichoke croutons, Sublime lemon-dijon dressing

Sublime Sliders: 'cheddar', seitan steak, onion, romaine, gherkin, special sauce

Another angle of the Slider, this was an appetizer! Deanna got it as a main one night. Huge for an appetizer.

I got these twice. Enchiladas: shredded gardein, jasmine rice, black beans, 'cheddar,' guacamole

Portobello 'Tenderloin': tomato confiture, garlic spinach, onion rings, whipped potatoes, au poivre sauce

Sublime Picatta: braised spinach, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, lemon caper sauce

Spinach & Eggplant Raviolis: slow-roasted tomatoes, garlic confit, herbs

Sublime Sundae: two scoops vanilla soy ice cream, chocolate shell, soy whip, peanuts

We for sure did not wuss out on eating dessert. Peanut butter swirl brownie a la mode.

Coconut cake. Small slice.
There was a bunch of stuff we forgot to photograph too! Like the Fried green tomatoes, the Vegan Sushi, And the Brick oven Pizza.
Oh, and Deanna has a quick video clip from Art Basel on
Her Blog...

It took 6.5 hours to put up... And 15 minutes to take down.

The walls and carpets in this place will be trashed by tomorrow and the whole place will be a big open cement floor.

It was only up for 6 days, and open for viewing 5 days.

However, thousands of people saw it - there was continuous foot traffic each day.

Brendan Fowler, my ANP Quarterly magazine collegue, and I did a live radio spot on PS1's radio show near the ramp that Ryan McGinness designed...

It was not for skating... (at least right then or for anyone other than Tony Alva, and the MIA dudes)

The ANP booth over at the NADA fair. Busting out.

This will happen to you (your head exploding) after a few days of art-fair action. Poor Julie! The
girls were talking at a great height disadvantage...

My love and I were off to eat dinner...

Collins street was slow and cruisy, too much legs and high heels -if thats possible.

A view of my Art Kabinett installation at the Roberts and Tilton booth inside the fair.

Another view.

We attempted to go see the free Iggy Pop concert, but got there late and heard a few 'I wanna be your dogs' before he said good night, so we turned around and went to a different party. But the beach was nice.

Deanna on the beach at South Beach.

Chris Johanson phones the dude chopping his crank with pooka shells...

Deanna about to eat a great vegan dinner at Sublime restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale.

Deanna and Andrea on their way to fetch a sweater.

A Keith Haring painting I saw at the fair.

One of my favorite things in the fair, a David Hockney.

This is Paulo, he is the publisher of my first book... See more on the
ANP Quarterly blog!

This band was playing. It was a variety of pink girls and blue girls, some topless, some not. The singer did a headstand, and one of the topless ones smashed eggs filled with paint into her vagina. It was fully art.

We watched this and spoke with our pals. good times.

We got checked into our hotel, the elevator was very red.

The only artwork in our room is a framed photo of Winona Ryder.

For this
Art Basel Miami thing. It is just like the ASR tradeshow, but exchange 'action sports' with 'art'. I'm gonna try to drive up to Ft, Lauderdale to eat at
this place. Damn, I realize I must come off like a pretty raw hippie sometimes. I assure you, I'm not. The reason I am going is to try to smash half of
THIS into a 6x6 foot room attached to
my galleries' booth. That should be fun. And the magazine I help make,
ANP Quarterly, is gonna have a booth at the nearby
NADA Fair, as well as doing this huge
PaRtY. I hope to update from the road, but bear with me if I do not.
