RVCA Day out with Josh and Austin...

We went to the RVCA warehouse to stock up on clothes for tour. (we being Austin, Josh and myself, But Austin eluded my camera...) Here Josh thinks about what to get for a tasty snack.

Then puts in his cash.

And pushes the button, Fascinating!

Then we raped the warehouse. Anthony tallies up the gear...

Jimmy shows us some photos of his children. (or was he checking out photos of me in my boxers?)

Then, later that night, I interviewed Josh for SLAP magazine.

I went to LA to see Nick in the new TWS video...

Image Description Here
So I trudged myself out to LA for the TWS Awards, which are always exciting. My ears are still ringing, my throat is sorta scratchy from all the second hand smoke from both weed and grits, and I luckily escaped getting beer thrown all over me. (Throwing full cans of beer at the stage was pretty much standard for the entire evening) This is Nick before the action started, as usual, comfortably numb, toting a cute hippie-chick on one arm and a Pabst on the other.
Image Description Here
When I walked up to this event on Hollywood and Vine in the heart of LA I saw a swarm of skate-rats pushing into the door like a ants' nest. Fuel TV was there trying to snatch people's souls into their airwaves on a red carpet style set-up. Then there were bikini-clad women roaming the crowd. I thought of my humble beginnings as a skater, learning how to ollie, or boardsliding a bench for the first time, then my brain just fast forwarded to this. What the hell is going on.
Image Description Here
I ran into Erik Ellington. Long time homie who I have not seen for a while. It was nice to say hi, although in too hectic a situation.
Image Description Here
Then after I barged through the rif-raf to get in with my posse in tow, I was stoked to see Ray Barbee and the Matson twins shredding it up live.
Image Description Here
Who is the asshole smoking inside?
Image Description Here
Is that Deanna with her cleavage showing?
Image Description Here
Grant Hatfield was sitting in front of me, wait, that's not Grant. And Josh too.
Image Description Here
Here is a better photo of Josh Harmony. He had this footage of his son Harrison that he showed us. So Sweet.
Image Description Here
I tried to shot some trolls, er, girls sitting in the aisles causing a fire-hazard.
Image Description Here
Then I remembered a flash works better.
Image Description Here
I was lucky to have old friend Miki Vuckovich sitting next to me. He has been skating since before you were born.
Image Description Here
MUSKA! What up dog? "I've been living in New York and making art with my buddy Dash Snow."
Image Description Here
Former Toy rider Nate Broussard was there...
Image Description Here
He was hella drunk and hugging everyone. Then I saw Matt B...
Image Description Here
And went over to get a photo with him. Yeah Matt B.
Image Description Here
This is Nick after the video premiere (which he destroyed). "I said congrats on the part Nick!" But I don't think he even heard me or could focus on me. Just like before the premiere, comfortably numb.

Bologna to London via Paris: The train journey

Image Description Here
Our last day in Bologna. We finished up our work at Damiani.
Image Description Here
Then went on a tourist mission. Scoping out churches, and walking around taking pictures.
Image Description Here
This statue was pretty creepy.
Image Description Here
We took a sleeper train to Paris.
Image Description Here
Then after a change at the Gare du Nord in Paris, we took the train under the English Channel, affectionately called 'the chunnel' or Channel Tunnel. I read magazines.
Image Description Here
Image Description Here
Image Description Here
Image Description Here
Image Description Here
Image Description Here
And so did Deanna.
Image Description Here
Then we got to London. (where Deanna got her first Tasty Beverage in over a month and was ecstatic)
Image Description Here
There was a giant piece by my friends OsGemeos on the outside of the Tate Modern. Yep, its a wiener.
Image Description Here
Inside some artists' work was out of order. Bummer.
Image Description Here
We ate at one of our favorite places, Eat and 2 Veg. In the UK they are not afraid of the word 'vegan.'
Image Description Here
We had a vegan mocha shake (spiked with a tad of Kahlua) and Deanna decreed it the 'tastiest beverage ever'
Image Description Here
We spent the rest of the night lurking the streets with our cameras. It was cold and rainy and we were shooting leggy girls in micro mini-skirts in the car lights going from club to club. And we did some skee-ball in some crazy arcade-mall. Watched some gay people fight. Have to say it was a long two days.

Bologna Day 3: Still 'On Press' with Deformer

Image Description Here
We are still in Bologna, Italy. Deformer will be out in stores this SEPTEMBER worldwide.
Image Description Here
It was funny to see a trashcan filled with messed up pages from the book.
Image Description Here
There were palettes of sheets everywhere. Each sheet gets folded in a certain way, then the edges get cut off, and each one of these is called a 'signature'. If you look closely at a book, you can see that it is made up of these 'mini-magazines' stitched and glued together.
Image Description Here
One of the sheets on the table for quality inspection. They look for color shifts, and use a super magnifying glass to make sure the registration is perfect. I was blown away by how much goes into making a book.
Image Description Here
Then we hit the town and had lunch, passing the squirting boobie fountain on the way...
Image Description Here
We found a store and went directly to the ice-cream section to see if they had these Soy ice-cream cones we had heard about. They did!
Image Description Here
We pigged out and ate 2 each. They are totally soy based, and 'Vegetale' is the Italian word for 'Vegan'.
Image Description Here
Then I went back to Damiani so I could sign the 200 special edition prints that will accompany the special slip-cased edition of the book.

Bologna day 2: Exciting Deformer Action!

Image Description Here
We got up and out early by taxi to Damiani...
Image Description Here
Where they had a book dummy. (a Deformer cover put on a blank book the same size and shape as my book.) It was very exciting to see.
Image Description Here
Gianni showed me the ropes, and we got to making small adjustments.
Image Description Here
He is the RULER!
Image Description Here
We were able to view sheets of the book as they were being printed to check the color and density.
Image Description Here
Deanna was excited as well.
Image Description Here
This is the machine popping out pages of the book.
Image Description Here
A guy pulls a sheet out every once in a while to give it a quality check.
Image Description Here
This is the Magenta part of the printer. printing is all done in only 4 colors, Cyan (blue) Magenta (red) Yellow, and Black (K). I saw a guy pour yellow ink into the yellow part of the machine. It was pretty great to check out.
Image Description Here
We took a lunch break in the rain.
Image Description Here
When we got back to Damiani, there were palettes of my book sitting there!
Image Description Here
It was pretty cool. They are fast!
Image Description Here
The best part was viewing the sheets. I had been working in B&W the whole time, so it was cool to see it in color for the first time.
Image Description Here
To clean the heads and get the ink flowing, they print a bunch of mistake sheets...
Image Description Here
Deanna using her Olympus XA.
Image Description Here
Later that evening, we got out into the city center. These banners were hanging and drew us to them with their beauty.
Image Description Here
They were high up there. Look how small Deanna is!
Image Description Here
This street reminded me of home. Happy B-Day Grif!
Image Description Here
We ate some serious veggie food at the 'Nature Center' a caffeteria type place that ripped pretty hard.
Image Description Here
More food. Stacy, you would love this place!
Image Description Here
A very enchanting day for sure.
