Q: Can you give me some info on a good camera with a reasonable price?
A: The Canon AE-1, probably 100 to 200 bucks anywhere used cameras are sold. The 'AE-1 Program' has some extra automatic features. You have to learn photography as well.
It's easy. Get this book: Black and White Photography, by Henry Horenstein
Read it, and start shooting. You will learn from your mistakes. Failure and bitter defeat is part of the game. This is EXACTLY how I learned to shoot photos. (Plus getting advice from friends)
No more excuses.

Q: Geez Ed what brand of acrylic paint do you use?
A: I use house paint from Home Depot, or OSH, then Liquitex, Windsor Newton, or whatever ones I bought from the regular art store. Mostly those two brands...

Question: Is there any other way to get photos taken with the AE-1 on computer other than scanning the photo? When you develope film can't you have the photos put on CD-ROM?

Any photos shot on this camera would have to be scanned from the negative or the print. You can do it yourself, or pay to have it done for you at the lab.

...Ed, you forgot a few things. Cats are also going to need: vision (aesthetic), patience, experience - and most importantly - Perseverance. After all, the cameras and whatnot are simply TOOLS that Ed uses. You'll never have his chemistry, his experience or his style - and you don't NEED to have 'em if you take the info he's giving you, and then use it to develop yer own thing.

All true artists borrow, all worthless pussies copy.

jesus ed, thanks so much for taking the time to post this. that book looks pretty much like the perfect tool to learn the technical basics to photography, too bad its black and white photography though. i just have one more question. if you want to be able to screw around with the photos (lighting, colours, tints, etc.) would you be able to get better results from a digital camera or one that takes film?
Posted By: this camera is gonna be shooting on September 21st, 2006 at 10:19PM PST
yegg, that was quite a paragraph. and i agree. tv is for chumps but admit it, we all watch some. and i hate video games. anykind. they do nothing but keep you inside drinking soda (which is shit too) and getting fat.
waite, im fine.
why the hell am i complaining.
:]
