I did a workshop for a group of high school kids in LA yesterday. The plan was to group the kids into tables of three and have them come up with a skateboard company idea. Each cluster would come up with a name, identify a target consumer, come up with a logo, and make three skateboard graphics that would be painted onto blank boards provided by Toy Machine. The kids came up with some pretty fun stuff. One groups target consumer was 'old people', and another's was 'businessmen'.

This girl is painting her idea onto a skateboard.

The finished product.

This kid was going for it, using cork, and glue with yarn... Here is a
detail.

This kids idea was to paint people in a welfare line. Their company name was 'Gato'.

The finished product.

This girls group called their company 'Geriatrics'

This girl was writing a poem about David Bowie on her board. It was great!

This is Sage. His question to me: 'Would you crook El Toro for twenty bucks?'
My answer: 'No.'
'What about a million bucks?' he said.
I said, 'Yeah, I would have to go for it.'
This is what
Sage painted.

I painted one too!
Here are some of the hand-painted skateboards:

Aaron Rose was there to help me out.

Some kids drew a picture of me while I was doing a slide show to introduce myself.

After the workshop, kids were asked to fill out a questionnaire. I got mostly good reviews!

And so did Deanna!
