We got a free 15 minute look of the aquarium because it was closing.
Ducks at Beaver Lake.
Vancouver's counterpart to the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen, Denmark is this snorkeller statue.
We snatched a gander at the Totem Poles that the Northwestern Native American tribes used to make, although these are mostly replicas...
So epic'ly stylized and enticing.
But don't get too close.
The Auarium was sad. Seeing majestic dolphins trapped in such a small space!
They even kept humans.
And in such a small space! Veal calves get more space than this kid.

I was so bummed out at the Vancouver Aquarium too.
Seeing all the fishies swimming wall to wall or in circles seriously killed my earthy buzz. I just don't get it. I guess that maybe if seeing some of our agua brothers inspires a few kids to fight for fish rights in the future then it may all work out to be a good thing.
The best part of my trip that day was marking some territory in the Canadian rain in a clearing behind the parking lot. Oh yeah and the very strange clown guy playing some music and doing some interesting dance moves as we left the building.

I was just at the little mermaid statue in copenhagen a few weeks ago. they say she's staring out across the sea in search of her lover. but i think the surrounding vendors selling plastic mermaid souvenirs and ice cream cones are really fucking up her chances.
