Came across a book signing by chance... It was Henry Horenstein, who among other things wrote the definitive textbook on photography that most colleges use today. I never went to college, so I basically learned photography by reading his book, and from asking my skate-photog homies questions.
So I went in and spoke with him. Told him how I learned from his books and found out we had some mutual friends. He told me Shepard Fairey took one of his classes, and taught Nan Goldin and Jim Goldberg at one point too! Anyway. He was signing copies of his new book Honky Tonk. I got myself a signed copy. A very nice man indeed!
