Random Proof Sheet Check

I opened a folder at random and selected a proof sheet that I had not yet filed into my digital archive.

And now the photos are here for you to be bored with.
1998, Memphis, Tennessee, some MTV skate contest. yeah, MTV did a skate contest.
All the photos on this roll (and blog post) were shot in one day at this event.

Vert will make a come-back.

As for Sheffey...? Hmm...

Does Toy Machine not affiliate with Transworld? Carolyn bought me a mag for a trip to Arizona, & I didn't see a damn Toy rider or ad... I was pissed.

Daniel Johnston rules.
Where is that wall btdubs?

The recession has made us scale back our ads. Not enough people buy Toy machine for us to advertise in TWS.
I want to, but can't. That does not mean that there won't be Toy Riders in TWS, but there is also not as much incentive for them to put us in there. The Recession is a circular fuck for everyone. Have fun on your Active logo boards...

Woah, I better get a job to buy as much Toy product as I can...

Did I win something?

not totally related, but jacob's comment reminded me that toy ads were literally the one thing i looked forward to most as a young (and eventually older but still kind of young) subscriber to transworld. i had no idea what any of the handwritten copy meant at the time, but the grittiness sucked me in. it must have been effective too, considering they're what has made me a loyal pawn since then.

yo jacob, if there is still any chance of being able to crash with you the night after opening reception, would you mind shooting me an e-mail? suburbanbeat@aol.com. if we can't swing it, that's alright too!
