The Cemetery of Reason

Coverage for your perusing pleasure.
Got to the museum in the afternoon so I could give a guided tour to a pack of museum guides, it started off awkward, but got pretty fun. It's hard to just stand there pontificating about your own artwork.
People putting on vinyl letters...
Todays De Morgen newspaper, literally means "The Morning." and there was a very posed looking photo of me in there. I need to start not listening to photographers' instructions, especially when it will make me look like a doosh.
This says something about the sexual photos in the show...
On the bus ride to the museum, there was a poster of Deanna advertising the show...
The opening had just started...
Tim and Bennett, looking bad ass.
This guy came with an OG shirt I made around 1990 for New Deal, and an OG Sheep hoodie.
Kevin was already tired...
The place was packed. Switn was with a cutie.
OK, here are some shots of the show...
Another room.
The other side of the one on top.
Crying girls...
Closeer up.
The biggger room.

Toy Machine's own Kevin Barnett ladies and gentlemen...

Fear Faith / Faith Fear
A random close-up...

looks like you had a good friday man (huh get it- ahhhh)

anyway, i've been following your work since i was 12 (23 now, and an artist no less) so i'm familiar with your work over the past 11 years
not since i first saw your work have a i been so interested by it. you've out templetoned yourself, this is like templeton 2.0

if youre not already, which im sure you are, you should be very proud of yourself. thank you for contributing this to the society i live it, even if you did do it all the was in belgium

on and thanks for the inspiration, im gonna go paint now
Posted By: dave kleiser on April 3rd, 2010 at 08:54AM PST
What gives you the ideas to paint??
Its pretty insane dude!!!!
Posted By: josiah on April 3rd, 2010 at 09:56AM PST
If you had spiked green hair, then you would look more like a "doosh". You look so natural, just leaning against this shit you painted, yeah man, just relaxing,no big deal, brudda. Or maybe you're just an outcast punkrocker, noboday done chose to play on their basketball team. who knows what that photographer was thinking.

Kevin looks like he needs his lil mornin' coffee on that bus ride.

Sheep,New Deal. Yeah, man,I got your signature Rusty collection.jk. I occasionally see Rusty clothing at Ross and I think to myself "hmmm."

You should make those squiggle bubbles go around each room and like go around the rooms like boarder wall paper stuff. Or like a black cloud of squiggles over the exhibit,if you feel like working for hours on it.I just realized I said "you should". That tends to make people not want to do whatever suggested.

That mountain clump of photos looks pretty good.Clever idea.

I see Kevin's wee wee.

Until 4 am? raging art party, brah.

SUCCESS!! You did it,now buy yourself a mini pizza and sleep in.your ass must have wokred for hours on this shit.Much successes.

you look bad ass in that newspaper Ed. And you spelled douche wrong.
That's the second comment in a row I've told someone that have spelled douche wrong.
Posted By: john on April 3rd, 2010 at 10:50AM PST
I choose to spell Doosh like that because it's funnier that way. I think it should be spelled this way when you are using it to call someone a doosh. If you're taking a shower in France, that's a douche.
Posted By: ed on April 3rd, 2010 at 11:13AM PST
beautiful, i love the squiggly word bubble going into the wall, this is probably my favorite art show i have seen pictures of.
Posted By: nate B on April 3rd, 2010 at 11:15AM PST
Thank you for caring enough about us fans back in the states that cant make it. I truly wish I could see it in person. I want to congratulate you on the show, it looks amazing and I couldnt be any more happier for you and Deanna. Congrats Ed!

pontificate: (v) talk in a dogmatic and pompous manner. "The new professor always pontificates"
Posted By: vinny on April 3rd, 2010 at 12:49PM PST
Ed, what the fuck?>?>> I hate myself for not being there... This is TOO fucking gnarly. Congrats man. I'm really stoked for you. It's beautiful.

So, clean people are douches?

John, got any ketchup for the harsh browns you're serving Ed?
Be happy. Be kind.

I'm so stoked you posted the dopest photos. The Fear Faith/Faith Fear is absolutely stunning.

I'm in awe...

Oh, hey Kevin.
Posted By: Jacob on April 3rd, 2010 at 12:50PM PST
I meant, oh hey Kevin's penis.

Thanks for posting your pictures!
I appreciate that!

Thanks All for your congrats!

Thanks J!
I don't think they're so good though.. I was pretty annoyed by all the artyfarty elbow-rubbers walking around there, but I guess they sign the checks! The setup of the show is really awesome, I think I'm going to check it out a few more times with less people in the museum. Too bad I was too shy and impressed to talk to Ed. I saw Ed's stuff at the Tim Van Laere gallery in Antwerp, but this one blows you right off your feet!
The barpersonnel were wearing awesome shirts which unfortunately werent for sale.

the third photo starting from below strikes me
did elke make it to the show?
Posted By: invictus on April 3rd, 2010 at 04:00PM PST
I just went to church for 3 hours for some conformation thing I don't even want to do.The whole time I carved candle wax in to penis' ang melted in to my skin, it didn't hurt though.
Posted By: john on April 3rd, 2010 at 07:16PM PST
What I admired most about your photos is there wasn't like a million useless photos blogging the event. They were good photos that captured the show from your point of view.

Reminded me of this:
Shyness can stop you, from doing all the things in life you'd like to.
Posted By: Jgonzalez on April 3rd, 2010 at 07:52PM PST
jgonz, i agree. not to take anything away from what you said either.

ed! how the hell do you get this organized? its incredible.
Posted By: matty on April 4th, 2010 at 10:00AM PST
pretty amazing, another full of people art show, you Ed definitely had a style and themed formula with your name, everything Ed draws or pictures its super cool, in skate scenes or just art scenes !.
And by the way, im not angry, i just realize that I'm fuckedup with my country, it is hard to do things here, you have to decide in this to options , do a die of hunger and do art and skate?, or just have taco shop and live like that haha

earthquake in Baja Cali? I want a head count.

jgonz: something along those lines, i agree.
Posted By: vinny on April 4th, 2010 at 05:01PM PST
So I searched Jgonz and got this:

Then this was result 4:

Vinny:I can imagine that "serious" photo of ed's face being a large print on a baggy hipster tank top. Signature sock team product right there.

I saw that earthquake thing on the tv too, first thought "Fresh from mex,Aldo..etc,OMG"

Check it for the tee shirt holmes
Posted By: Jgonzalez on April 4th, 2010 at 06:05PM PST
Woah, Ed, you look hard.
All that's missing is that lit Marlboro Red...

I guess the earthquake hit here as well. I was driving, so I didn't feel anything.

At least most of the first page for "Jgonz" is Toy related..
Posted By: Jacob on April 4th, 2010 at 08:04PM PST
WOAH, yeah! We should get those iron-on transfers, make a nice high-res version of the ed face photo, and make some killer tees. on the back of the shirt can be a plug for all the blogs (,,, jacobs blog, etc etc etc etc)

the best part is the forehead tag. Definite sock team merch. maybe the forehead tag SHOULD say sock team... make ed the sock team pawn. role reversal.
Posted By: vinny on April 4th, 2010 at 08:19PM PST is a pretty sick site.
Posted By: Jgonzalez on April 4th, 2010 at 08:52PM PST
im tardy to the party on this one. INTO IT. wheres devin briggs.
Posted By: kris on April 5th, 2010 at 12:28PM PST
yea, eathquake right here, mexicali baja cali.
the epicenter of a 7.3 earthquake.
only 2 people died, but a brigde collapsed and every building got damaged in someway.
crazy, it happend right at the ending of an Ipath demo we organized.
people ran randomly away like crazy sheep.
there was no electricity at night, meaning no running water, no stores open, no communication devices on, etc, for 8 hours.
the night in the city was pitch black! like that movie silent hill.
Posted By: fresh from mex on April 5th, 2010 at 01:10PM PST
d.briggs is the smart commentor. he lays low as not to humiliate/embarrass himself in some way. people like me, on the other hand, fill that void.
Posted By: vinny on April 5th, 2010 at 01:49PM PST
I could imagine mass murder sprees happening in Mexico with no electricity.
It's weird how people freak out when something like that happens.
Posted By: Jgonzalez on April 5th, 2010 at 03:05PM PST
Thanks LL Gonz J.

We all make fools of ourselves & eachother.
That's bush.
