Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire: pt 6
The Island of Sardinia - South of France, East of Rome, West of Spain, North of Tunisia.
We got off the overnight ferry as the sun was rising over the bay in Olbia.
And soon we were off in our rented car north to the town of Palau, where since we were stymied on renting a boat, decided to take our car by ferry to the island of Maddalena and the town of La Maddalena.
The Maddalena Archipelago is at the north end of Sardinia, and Corsica is just north of that.
The first thing Grant did was try to catch a fish caveman style.
This is the "mounted from behind" angle.
There were lots of these critters.

A dreaded sunny day...
Back in Olbia we dined in the Italian tradition.
Brus-Keta, don't say it wrong or Ashley will have your ass.
The Blue Marino Cave, or Grotto il Blue Marino. We drove our rented boat right in there, parked it and took a tour.
I guess this is not allowed, but no one seemed to care.
Into the depths...
It is very deep, we can only go about a 3/4 of a mile in before we stop at a stunning gallery. Any more exploration needs a guided tour and special equipment.
An underground river formed this cave over thousands of years. There is a point where the river water meets sea water, but it's not photogenic.
The Nuova-Spelunkers loved Spelunking. No, not that spelunking.
"Watch out for the boulder Indy!"
Ashley was right under the cave's anus.
The light at the cave mouth was beckoning us.
