Catalina in late November?

On November 27th Deanna and I went to Catalina Island on a whim. It was the weekend after Thanksgiving. The weather was the mildest it's been all year, and the sea was as calm as I've ever seen it.

The Pacific was so flat it felt like the boat was driving on asphalt.

Avalon Harbor is empty. No boats at all! The docks are mostly pulled up from the pier, the rental boats are stored away, the children's float is gone, it's eerie to see it void of water craft.

My Fave, Joe's Rent-a-boat is closed for the winter.

We were craving to be on the calm water. At Descanso Beach we rented kayaks, and you won't believe me, because we have absolutely no photo documentation to prove it, but we sat still in our kayaks as a pod of over 100 dolphin came barreling at us, diving under or going around us at the last minute. It was quite extraordinary. The sound was incredible. They were followed by dozens of Sea Lions who were chasing the dolphins who were chasing schools of fish. Popping their heads up in curiosity. And later we sat and watched as hundreds of Cormorants took off with a flapping and clapping sound that also was such a sonic treat to see and hear. We felt like film-makers of one of those nature shows, like Oceans. We feel very fortunate.

Never, ever go for full ear bleed with JMascis at the helm.

I usually shop local. Thrift stores, record store, and skate shop. And Amazon/Target is as corporate as I go. The only bright side to having a wal Mart is a funny place to take photos and our shriveling mall might get more businesses. The only place I like at the mall is Ross too. Pants and cheap skate shoes pretty much. But I\\\'ve been Thrifting more for pants and shoes too since I don\\\'t shred through pairs like I used to. anyway. Wal Mart won\\\'t even compete with what I choose as a consumer.

A local news station here has a Facebook page and they\\\'ve been asking people their opinion. The people that rationalize a Wal mart are usually people that don\\\'t seem to think progressively(conservative, religious,etc. I lurk their profiles) and are also lured by the \\\"low prices\\\". I mean. Some people are very 2 dimensional and don\\\'t give what they buy much thought.

On top of that. I had an experience the other day. In Redding there Was a Wal mart and Target across the street from each other. We perused the wal mart first. And I checked out everything and all the products are totally cheap and whatever. Plus it\\\'s like cattle in there. Went next door to the target. Their product selection is better. And we already have a target locally. Which is closer to my house. I feel like the biggest loser in this will most likely be the local KMart.

But they couldn´t compete with our chains
so they left the german market some years ago with a loss of 3 billion Euro!

Then watch "How TV ruined your life" also from Charlie Brooker.

I think there was a court case about sending porno through the mail a long ass time ago. I think the outcome was: yes you can...or something like that. I wish I knew for sure.
