An assortment of B&W images

I am currently digitally archiving my entire photo archive. I have been in this process for years. Every single B&W image you have seen on this blog since day one has come from a scanned proof sheet. (That's why they look so crappy.) I have 42 books of negs so far, (and some extraneous boxes and folders) and each book has about 75 proofs in it. (That's over 100,000 photographs.) Once I am finished I will be able to search for keywords and find out where the negatives are. Before I started this it was a nightmare finding them. Books 38-42 are all done and up to date. But going backwards, there is a lot of work to do. So I am currently doing book 37, where these photos are from.

I shoot way too many photos from the car. But when Deanna is driving there is nothing to do but look out and enjoy life. (or read, or draw, or fiddle with technology.) So when we drive by something and there is a camera in my hand, I snap it.

Digital Archiving. That´s what I did last year.
Well, I don´t have 40 some books of negatives and proof sheets,
but maybe one day I will, so better start today getting a good
archive that makes it easy to find what you´re looking for.

Worst part of it was to name the files.
What´s on them, what will I search for?

I also did that with the fotoarchive of my parents.
Up to 3000 Dia and negatives, took me some weeks.
But now I can search for a person on my harddrive and
all the images just pop up.It´s also sorted by year, name,
situation, and whatelse special´s on the photo.

Hang in there...haha.

have you seen the new Beavis and Butthead episodes? they're actually pretty good. I read his Vice interiview, he said he's had ideas in his head this whole time and now he's just putting the episodes out.

speaking of MTV. man. fucking Dyrdek's tv show. I mean, good for him I guess. he gets money for watching youtube videos. but what the fuck. some lady on a couch and some random ass guy with this rewind box. wow. Tosh.O was terrible to begin with too. watching a show full of shit you've mostly already seen.
I'm just another guy bitching on the internet, pretty awesome.

I can't even name one avenged sevenfold. this dude that skates in my photography class was playing some on his ipod touch while I was developing some rolls. god. it's like wussy metal. I can't stand metal when they like try to sing all, for lack of better and over used word "whiney" and stuff. it just doesn't sound good. or like that jock metal where they all try to sing like Creed or Pearl jam.

speaking of long beach. my ex in the coast guard is stationed there. and I found out over facebook that she is pregnant. it's kinda a life trip, you know. somebody you were like close and intimate with once before. I mean, like internalizing that was pretty crazy. but other than that, I wasn't too bummed. I imagine it would suck having that major responsibility so soon. but that's life I guess. Never ready for shit when it happens.

Martin, I use a lab for developing my film and making proofs. But I print most of my work myself, up to 20x24, in my home darkroom. I have an assistant, Dennis who helps me print when I have a lot of printing to do.
