Catalina for Deanna's birthday 2012

The obligatory trip to Catalina post you must all be sick of.
On the way out of Long Beach harbor, the ubiquitous Queen Mary.
Fast forward through all of the boat ride, and the direct walk to Joe's Rent-a-Boat, and the boat cruise past Willow Cove where someone was camping meaning we had to find another beach to have our picnic on. We settled on Torqua Springs. (Willow Cove/Pinnacle Rock where we usually snorkel and eat our lunch is the exact spot where this happened on May 6th.)
"Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." -Mark Twain
Deanna loves her chill tube.
There were plenty of Leopard Shark, Shovelnose Guitarfish, Sting ray and Bat rays lurking here.
Bald Eagle sighting!
Here's a zoom.
When a Sea Lion is resting they sometimes look like a shark from a distance because they keep a flipper up in the air like a fin.
But the fact that this guy let us get fairly close to him and never moved from his position, we fear that he was injured in some way.
This wreck is still there?
Free bowling on your birthday? Deanna gets a strike!
To cap off the day, on our boat home a huge pod of dolphin frolicked among us.

Why don't you guys just move their? It looks amazing!

So they just leave ship wrecks in the water? Nobody ever cleans it up?

Dang so Toy Machine is gonna be in Amsterdam??

Shark attack. bitten board. Cliche shark stuff.

3rd photo is the heart melter

I just opened my iTunes to listen to some music and comment. and Altered Images is on the top of my list.Considered listening then skipped. then saw your link on this post. cool story huh.

That Paul McCartney video was pretty cheese. but fuckit. it's fucking paul McCartney. I can excuse that.

Ah. A bald eagle. I blame the socialists that are in charge of this nanny state that stop me from hunting the bird. eating a bald eagle would let me taste freedom in more than one dimension.

Wow. sharks in shit water. You wouldn't think it would look that beautiful.

That boat reminds me of the Navy sinking their own ships in drills to practice just in case they need to blow one up with live people on it. I wonder like how they prepare a war ship to sink. drain the fuel and stuff. Any arguments for it? Creates habitat? A new home for the animals that are displaced from their coral reef. LOL. doubt they would sink a ship over a coral reef. but it's funny. and i'm sure it's happened somewhere.

Tell your wife Happy Birthday! from jgawnzz.
I wonder what our overlord got her. The whole husband having trouble finding a gift thing. then the whole it wasn't romantic enough thing. then the you know what man, I really don't have that much money thing. Then the I love you anyway kinda thing. then the life keeps going thing. yeah, kinda like that.

Looks like you guys had fun. I need to get out and do similar activities in a similar setting along our many rivers and forest parks. Summer is starting to die down. bleccchhhhh

I was tripping kinda hard on that photo of Ed from 1992 that was posted on your FB like yesterday. Ed at the same age I am right now when I was born. I'm half your age overlord. but anyway in that photo you kinda looked like the Jack Frost dude in those stop motion christmas movies. ha. Then today Mike V posted some old photos of himself on Insta around that time too. And you guys started TV and all that stuff. You guys were both crushing it from a young age. I need to shift my trash compactor of life on overdrive. make some moves.
maybe tomorrow.

God, I want to go there so bad. Happy birthday Deanna! your trip looks epic what a good way to celebrate her day.

I bet the overlord took her out to a nice vegan restaurant or made her a home made meal.

LOL. Facebook.
I get my feed blasted by Ed/Toy. since those are the only pages I like/comment on. It's what I use FB for.
Everybody I'm close friends with is on Instagram anyway. and they have iphones so I can just text them too.

Emilie's tanned guido made me LOL. And I didn't ignore her rant on Monster. yeah, it's pretty funny these dudes have to get patches on their hats and gear. and Prod and Theotis have Mountain dew. Mountain dew is kinda funny though, that drink that was for stoners is now some sort of skate elixir or something.

Anything can be anything with the right marketing.
But i highly doubt the money in pro skateboarding is in your board sponsor. For example Shane O'Neill. I don't think Skate Mental is selling his board as much as Nike SB shoes are selling. that would be fucking crazy if boards outsold shoes. I'm sure for some pros it doesn't matter how much their board sponsor pays them it's just customary to have a board sponsor. And Nike SB is kinda creating a team of dudes that are associated with their brand more than their board sponsor. Who does Chet ride for? Black Label? But I know for sure he rides for you know what shoes.

Anyway, putting that dumbass patch on your hat for a syrup drink results in a paycheck. Which is desirable. Another paycheck to pile on to the rest. What is selling out anymore? I don't have much perspective, but in 2012 to sell out, i'm not sure what you have to do. Omar has that NikeXLevi's collabo. Sounds crazy but I still think Omar is fucking amazing and shit, I buy Levi's already anyway. So I wonder what it means to sell out in these times.

I had to break that rant up into seperate comments. I guess there's a cap to how many times you can say Nike and/or Levi's in a post.

Jacob needs instagram and vice versa

Nike is such a huge corporation.I mean they got like 1,000 riders all over the world, I mean some of them are flow or whatever. They got the money I guess.

I also think Nike is really good at marketing, because they sponsor so many diverse skaters. From Prod to Chet to Diego to BA. I mean the list goes on....

I don't think the term "sold out" is used anymore. I mean is it???? I never here anymore.. Besides when someone gets sponsored isn't that a form of "selling out"???

I don't care really. People gotta make money to survive, selling skateboards and skating all the time is paradise!!

That´s a never ending topic.
And I guess it´s easy to judge when you´re not in a situation like that.Nike never knocked and offered a shitload of money, for beeing the awesome guy that I am.
I´d like to see a little less sugar water sponsors on my photos when I go to a demo/contest.
But that´s how it is now.
Maybe they would have found Cobain today with a shotgun, a can of Rockstar and Axe Anarchy next to his frazzled head, the moaning bitch. We never know.

Speaking of Nike. Keanu Reeves wears the janoski's!

I guess I would have done a lot to be able to be a pro skater too. Cole has a little family to support.
