Barry McGee show in Berkeley
Deanna and I drove up to see Barry's mid-career retrospective at the Berkeley Art Museum. And then spent a day in San Francisco looking at more art.

Legendary Kevin Ancell (creator of the Spitfire logo) who is responsible for the heavy lifting on the production side of a Barry McGee show. Is that Colt Bowden in the background?
Barry's father did these drawings on napkins.
Some hints of Margaret Kilgallen were everywhere.

Looks like it was a good time.
The Art is just so amazing.
Those dummy's spray painting on top of each other is brilliant.
I guess that's why you guys are Professional Artist's. Beacause of all the Great ideas.
That Teen witch chick looks hot.
So why isn't Jordan Taylor going on KOTR???
It's crazy at my new job, I see so many different dogs. Way better than working at the beef plant.

Drove up. Kinda weird. for me at least since any trip to the bay area people usually say "going down" since I'm located at a position in California where everything important is below. and if you're going north you're just "going to oregon"
His tags are "clean". Is that the correct term? Or whatever term is used for "writers" that are good at graffiti. Can you clarify and expand upon these terms,jacob?
Creator of the spitfire logo. I feel like you've posted a photo of him before. and still posting up links to RVCA stuff? awww mannnn. jk. But for real. RVCA has some sweet art connections. But also sold in Pac Sun. But, it's funny how we associate a clothing brand with some sort of movement we can buy our way into. I guess that's true with any product. Even Toy Machine isn't safe. but. The message of our overlord, the artistic representation of skateboarding by comparison to other companies only elevates what is so special and admirable about Toy Machine. PS I watched Ken Park the other day. My friend had it on DVD. I guess it isn't for sale in the US because of Music rights. anyway. Lot's of Toy Machine logos in it. 2002. Seems so far away now. How small the logo on the kid's chest when he's eating dinner with his girlfriend's family. Just how the size, placement of the logo changes with fashion. 2012 is the year of the pocket tee with big logo on the back. Is it wrong? no. it's just is what it is.
I enjoyed those photos of his wall art. I took them in for a couple of minutes.

Ok. Now I'm listening to Clare Rojas' song you linked. She sings good, is pretty, and paints really cool. I'll refrain from using any sort of explicit male dialogue and just say she's a beautiful lady.

My friend was gonna go on a field trip to MOMA SF. But he got an email on wednesday that the trip was cancelled. I told him to check out this stuff.
That Margaret Kilgallen board series from back when is probably one of the best board series from Toy. A re release would probably go over well. Didn't she design the Matoki logo?
I'm feeling inspired to paint. I haven't drawn anything since Highschool. like in my notebooks and stuff.
The big one. Is it really not secure? i thought there was laws and codes for that. Or were they like "beauty is worth death!" Typical art logic. Jk. Well. I wouldn't mind dying in a beautiful pile of rocks.
Ha . Is that guy really sitting on the artwork? I kinda like when people disregard rules and just relax.
Wow. That wooden dumpster with all the trash protruding. that's cool. I'm sure that's a lot of tagger's dreams. Just absolutely vandalizing a bathroom with their tag. But, if somebody did that to the bathroom I have to clean each night at work. I would be bummed. I found myself buffing some graf. I'm destroying art.

I dig Barry's stuff. I like the pile up graffiti dudes every time I see it. Killer napkin daddy sketches. The Kilgallen room made me get a chill. Haven't seen Laurie Lazer (Lori) in a long time now. I ate some grub with her several years ago and got to hang for a day with her and Darryl. I still slap the KIL stickers that she gave me on things now and again. I was bequeathed them on the one condition from Barry that they get stuck on things everywhere.

Wow, Barry's retrospective looks amazing. His stuff is very clean. You can tell even on the stuff he didn't finish, it looks like it's final. Amazing work
