I was mostly frazzled all day, this is the bare bones of what I was able to shoot.
I woke up excited and got all gussied up in some nice jacket Deanna had got for me a while back.
When I opened my front door to drive up to LA this is what I saw. Fires had erupted not far from my house and a black wall of smoke was slouching towards the ocean...
The smoke was a dark grey orange. I hope Billy Marks is OK out there in Corona!
We started off with a book signing, That is
Matt Leines signing his
new book there next to me. And that is loveley Betsy from the gallery selling books like hotcakes.
A closer view of Matt Leines at work signing his book...
And this is May who was working at the gallery modeling the Templeton RVCA shirt made just for the exhibition. Sweet times.
This is Dave. His wife just had a baby, and he was awesome enough to drive up to see the show!
He works with my picture framer Dick McCoy, and basically framed all of the 250 photos and drawings on the walls... The dude is epic.
This is
Dave Naz and his signifigant other
Oriana sandwiching Deanna and me...
Then
Neil Patrick Harris showed up with his handsome boyfreind
David Burtka and couldn't stop talking about Deanna's vagina.
Lets do a bad-ass one!
Mark Rodriguez was there holding the newest hot off the presses
ANP Quarterly magazine.
Natas Kaupas showed up! Whoa!
Brendan had a mini meltdown over him, it was super sweet.
A random shot of the opening as it was starting to wind down a bit.
Hunter Burgan became a collector!
Stacy M took some photos for me...
The place was packed!
Some views of the evening...
A close up...
A close up of one of the big heads...
Amber, Allison, and Janean were all smiles.
A view askew.
The crowd was a rowdy mix. Both art-damaged weirdos and skater-kids. I loved it.
This man wasn't satisfied with the nudity on the walls, he was scoping out the young ladies...
Afterward, we ducked out to a local restaurant and got some (vegan) dessert. Look how stoked I am!
Salty chocolate torte with soy-milk foam. So good. The waiter thought it was my birthday and kept saying happy birthday to me, I just said, "Thanks!"
It was an amazing night. Thanks to all who came, and to all the well wishers. I appreciate it so much.
Thanks to Deanna and all the wonderful people at
Roberts and Tilton. Support the arts! Go see shows!
