Barcelona for the NY Times 3
Earlier this year I went to Barcelona with the New York Times Style Magazine, "T," to shoot photos for a travel story revolving around the fact that Barcelona has historically been a hub of Skateboard, Art, and Graffiti culture. Sadly, the article (and hence my photos) will never run because of staffing changes at the magazine. So I will do a series of posts sharing the photos I took on that trip to Spain this April, 2012.
The Torre Agbar is always thrusting into the sky. One-upping London's famous "Gherkin" by being more environmentally efficient.

The asphalt mounds at the foot of Torre Agbar are fun to roll around on with skateboards.
These are the grounds at the foot of the Tower.
Some people use the mound to sunbathe.

Teenagers use the mound for graffiti.

What makes you think Jerry is on Nike?
I didn't type any of that . weird. I feel like every guy on the skate internet loves Active Erica. But, I don't waste any time obsessing. but I guess I waste a lot of time on Moz,pro skaters,etc that are all male. whatever. I just don't ever really have a crush on anybody that's unattainable.
So last night I went on a date, I got a girl's number then texted her to hang out on Friday. So we got dinner and stuff. She was alright, but it felt awkward and at a moment I just wanted to walk out and leave. Creating a social connection with another person is a lot of work, I dunno. Just an undertaking. Anyway the discussion turned to music. She liked punk music and she talked about all the shows she goes to (while she's in LA. Where she's from) and drinking 40's and partying at backyard shows with random bands. Then she talks about halloween and partying also. I told her I just give out candy. And it is revealed I don't "party" anyway back to the music discussion she asks me if the kind of punk bands I like are "Descendents and Minor Threat" and I light up a little and say "yeah, of course. I love Ian" but she doesn't expand on the tangent. I guess it was a turn off. I'm too much of a nerd I guess. I think Milo and Ian are really cool people, kinda like people I looked up to as a teenager since i listened to their music a lot. but then to have somebody come in and think of them as being lame is weird. Or at least that's the impression I got.
I also realized explaining my life,i sound lame. I'm a mega skate dork on the internet that goes to community college and works at a sub par grocery store. Oh well, IDC. Spin my morrissey records in my bedroom.

Giant phallus. I forget what philosopher or whatever said that everything is a phallus. everything longer than it is wide is a phallus. All of this technology and coordination and all we think is "huhuhhh uhhuh...ow my bawlz"
That mound looks really fun to skate. I'm trying to learn impossibles, yes, you make them look that fun, and i'm getting the scoop down. But I barely practice enough. I think i'll try and go skate tomorrow. I think Jacob is supposed to make his way up to my 'hood also. Maybe something of interest will be posted to the 'gram.
I took my bandage and splint off so I can type all of this with my crusty hand.
It's cool that our overlord is doing fashion work. Like those babes you posted on insta the other day. Kind of an artist cliche, hanging out with Models. but. I wouldn't complain. What constitutes a model also. you know, artists need models. subjects.

I'm no expert on dating but I do know a thing or two.
If you have to try that hard to get a connection with someone, it's probably not meant to be. Trust me. When you meet someone that is super easy to talk to and get a long with that's the person your gonna wanna be with all the time and potentially make baby's with or not make baby's with and adopt, or whatever floats your boat.
I'm a skate nerd too. Everyone is a nerd at something.

that tower is insane! so cool. I also like the egg building in London. Definitly makes the skyline more interesting.
All these Barcelona posts are so great. Thanks for all the new updates Ed! I\'m currently learning about architecture and doing some perspective drawings in school, so these pictures are very inspiring right now.
I\'m going to the new Astrup Fernley museum of modern art in Oslo this week. They should get some Templeton originals. Still looking very much forward to the trip. They have a very cool collection. The building is spectacular.

Yeah. That's what I was feeling. But still on the date you don't want to just crash and burn. Trying to keep the ship sailing at least. We probably won't hit each other up again but I'm not losing any sleep. I just went for the learning experience. You know. At least I was on a date.
Yeah haha. I just checked burnout too and was confused. Jerry doesn't wear rolled up pants that baggy or logo tees. Zach Wallins I think. New enjoi am. He really looks like Hsu in that photo. Weird huh.
Emerica Hsu I imagine is one of their most popular models. They look good.
LOL the front page on the website isn't updated like it used to be. Since all the pros update their instagrams. They inform us themself now. Weird to think that it was probably at one time to document events with a digi cam for this site and emailing the photos for a site update or something since this was more of a spring of information.
I'm here until you guys get sick of us and delete the comment feature. LOL

Ed, is Didrik Galasso flow for toy machine? I don't know him but he is a friend of a friend of mine. He had some great footage in the documentary about skateboard high school Bryggeriet in Malmø. I just noticed that he seems to only ride toy decks.

Egg buildings look fun. I need to do something with my life, and get money and travel. The world out there is just too awesome not to see it myself.
JGonz- Sounds like that chick had a bad experience with another guy that liked the Descendents and Minor Threat, or she just sucks haha. I was supposed to see the Descendents at Riot Fest in Brooklyn, but it got rained out...But I saw a kid with a thrasher t-shirt and I saw some kid wearing the transmissionator socks. I got a picture of the thrasher t-shirt kid, but not the guy with the toy machine socks. I'll post it on instagram for y'alls even though my instagram sucks lately.
