Memory Foam Opening

My entire night was spent sitting at a table and signing things for all of the wonderful people who came out, so I wasn't able to shoot the show as well I could have. But here is what I came up with. See the Active website for better coverage.

9314img9534.JPG
Before the opening I was able to take a few snaps of the show devoid of people.
9314img9533.JPG
9314img9532.JPG
9314img9539.JPG
Deanna shot a double portrait from outside.
9314img1641.JPG
The place was packed! I see Captain Soncho and his Mom and sister Coral. And I see my uncle Bob and my friend Oliver.
9314img1642.JPG
Some random jump-roping started. At some point this woman jumped rope in the nude. A bike was ridden in the gallery. I don't know if these people were fans (I doubt it) or just "Performance "Artists" looking for a space to get attention? I guess it provided some entertainment.

This corpulent morsel shed her unitard and jiggled her flesh to the bewilderment of onlookers.
9314img1647.JPG
I think vomit happened as well at some point.
9314img1648.JPG
Jamie Thomas was in LA filming his piece for the Berrics, and stopped by for a visit!
9314img9550.JPG
This was my night for the most part. Signing books with my zine collaborator Clint Woodside.

My celebrity patron, NPH, so sweet.

HB local Coral with the photo I shot of her.
9314img9563.JPG
Clara from Clarascakes.com stopped by with some vegan treats for me! So stoked! If you need vegan treats, cakes, cookies for your next party, call her up! She's 16 or 17 and already nailing it.

Oops, I meant to mention the fact that I lol'd at that quote up there
Posted By: Tenant on January 13th, 2013 at 02:56PM PST
For some reason I thought it meant the actual photos shown, still really cool to see more from the opening night.
Hopefully this collection will come out as a book eventually, think I saw Ed say on Instagram him and Deanna were thinking about doing something with these photos.

Omg what kinda art show is this? Why are crazy women booty shaking?? Lol

Looks super good! Good job ed!!

That chick with the blue hair is cool. Her inst name is @krazynoodelthai. I follow her on insta!

Whoops you already shouted out krasynoodelthai.

That Clara chick is hott!

You kinda remind me of magneto from x men, in the wheelchair! Your controlling everything with your mind!
Posted By: Josiah on January 13th, 2013 at 09:05PM PST
Josibraaah, Magneto does have the ability to control things with his mind, as long as they are metal, but I think you're thinking of Professor Charles Xavier, he's the dude in the wheel chair, and he can control things with his mind haha. Imagine if Ed dressed up like him...he has the wheel chair already, that'd be fucking hilarious.

That unitard chick/performance art thing must have been insane. I'm sure you didn't ask for it, but I hope it was enjoyable. Sounds like it kinda wasn't haha.

NPH...Got to be a fan, that's two shows now that he's gone to? Awesome haha.

I didn't think that gallery would be that big. It looks huge. So many people. I follow Matt Skiba on instagram, the singer of Alkaline Trio because he reposted the first toy machine sock contest poster and I thought that was amazing haha. He went to the show, he took a few shots and posted on instagram. Guess he didn't say hi to you. I think I remember seeing Randy from No Age post something too. Looks like a good show.

I really hope you turn this into a book. Looks awesome. Congratulations

Yessssss. I was wondering if a post would be made here or not. I'm feeling a 2008 vibe right now. A blog post digi cam update to document an event. sweeeeeeeeet.

I would have totally instagrammed that window decal of your name. I wanna peel it off and stick it on my car.

I want to see that American flag photo close up. But, since I won't ever see this show in person I have the low resoultion pic here to look at. Maybe I'll buy a book with it

Double portrait. Higher tier selfie.
Which is your uncle bob? I'm not familiar with this guy.

LOL. Nice. Disowning those jump ropers as not fans. I saw that photo you retweeted of that girl's behind. Her cheeks didn't look that good. weird latina ass.Grant had his cell out, quickdraw.
LOL that Clint Woodside is behind you in that pic. in your shadow. Symbolism?

I saw that NPH interview with Oprah. He's such a romantic. The gay ppl I know just have loadddss of sex. It's insane.
Did Soncho's sister stand next to the pic in hope of being recognized? that would be something fun to do, for her.

I went to a Vegan restaurant the other day. I wanted to eat something but didn't want fried bullshit that most restaurants have. or most anywhere for food. I got this salad that had apples. they also baked fresh vegan gluten free bread. bred was hot and good. They had a display case of cookies and treats. made me think of you overlord.
ps girl is cute. those cupcakes look good. everything in dat pic looks good. ed. u are luckkkyyyy

Grungy Grant.

I don't follow crazy noodle. maybe I will now. maybe I won't. hi.
@jgonz

where's Jacobbbbb!!?!? he was dere. I txted him.

I agree with Josiah, both of Grant's zines are awesome.

PS. If anyone wants a copy of Ed's book Situation Comedy it looks like Amazon came across 4 copes, going for $14 brand new

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/9075883374

I got it a few weeks ago and it was well worth it

I´ve been lurking lately. The show looks great. Funny that Neil Patrick Harris came. How I met your mother is my guilty pleasure sitcom. It looks like a really fun gallery opening, I wish I could have been there. Ed has changed up the way he puts up his art in galleries lately. At least if we look at this one and his last show in Denmark. Less clusters, more minimalistic. MAybe the material just needed different organizing. I can dig it.

We are going to make stop motion animation films at school I think I´ll go for a sect movie. Any ideas for a short storyline or a short scene? I don´t think they´ll be more than a few seconds long.
Posted By: emilie on January 18th, 2013 at 08:24AM PST
I was there. I spoke to Ed, briefly. There were a number of hungry fans waiting to touch him.

JGonz, I told Ed you said Hello. He nodded. I also asked about our photos, & he had viewed them.

It was a great photo exhibit. Other than the eccentric, "weld 4 bikes onto one", commune living, smelly rat tailed new-age hippies who took over the place as if they were entitled. It's okay though.

I told Ed "Really good shit" & pointed to his photos.

Emilie- make the sect puke through his "snork" as Reda affectionately calls it. I wonder if that's an acceptable name for it. Or of course, do whatever you want haha
Posted By: Mike on January 18th, 2013 at 04:22PM PST
thats a great idea Mike! thanks! We haven´t begun working on them yet, hopefully we will get an assignment where I can have the freedom to make something like that. It would definitly be a cool scene.

Just watched the Bones Brigade autobiography tonight. Rodney Mullen must be the sweetest person on earth. I love his whispery voice. Tony was a huge childhood hero for me so I enjoyed the movie alot, just seeing the old footage and hearing them speak was enough for me to be exited.

We are actually doing some embroidery at school, I know it sounds lame. But I´m thinking of making an embroidery interpretation of somekind of a photo or something like that. I think it might be cool, I just have to thing it through a little bit more...

You are so lucky for meeting Ed Jacob. I´m sure you´ll never forget it.
